Biography
Engage in a conversation with Becky Eason, PhD, and see how quickly you feel like a friend. Becky has acquired the skills and experience to take her aspirations for connection and community and turn them into a career. She would tell you that this is all a way of carrying on the proud family tradition of seeing strangers as friends she just hasn’t met yet. Becky has Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English Literature and the PhD in Higher Education, all from the University of Kansas. She is also a trained Leadership Coach (Kansas Leadership Center), Health & Wellness Coach (MentorCoach, Inc.), and Meeting & Strategic Planning Facilitator (Leadership Strategies, Inc.) and holds Level I Certification in the KLC Leadership Competences. Whatever you need to move your organization--or yourself!--forward, she will meet you there and accompany you on the journey. Becky has a passion for the challenges of nonprofits and arts agencies, particularly the challenges they face in effectively telling their story to funders and the public alike. She is energized by semi-structured interviews, focus groups, and content analysis, because of the opportunities they provide to connect with people and their stories. She used those skills at KU for 15 years, but now employs them at WordCraft, LLC—the consulting firm she founded in 2015. When not coaching individuals or organizations, Becky can often be found with husband Doug and kids Grace and Alec at the dog park, enjoying outdoor time with the rescued Corgis they are either fostering or have adopted.
