Lorrie began life as a quiet little artist and a big reader. She blossomed when getting a BA degree in American Studies, Sociology and Art and through meeting students and professors who were interesting, kindred spirits. Her fascination in learning about people resulted in getting an MSED degree in Counseling.
Over the years Lorrie felt she was on a career roller coaster ride. She developed excellent career counseling, training and writing skills in a variety of positions within healthcare, higher education, small business, county government and corporate settings. While she built a strong reputation for high quality work and caring relationships, she always felt that there was something more that she was meant to do.
As a Vice President and Outplacement Consultant for an international human resource consulting firm, she provided career transition coaching and training to hundreds of ego-crushed people who had been downsized from their companies. After several years she felt burned out. The stress had affected her to the point where she met with the company CEO and resigned without knowing what was next in her career, which was a frightening yet necessary step to take.
Recognized as a “Coach’s Coach” who is authentic, creative, smart and enthusiastic, she quickly realized that starting her own business was the only way she could provide the highly individualized coaching that she loved to give her clients. While she felt as though she was about to jump off a cliff, on August 1, 1998 she took the leap and “My Authentic Life Coaching” was born! It was a true expression of Lorrie’s gifts and commitment. The business had two income streams: creating and selling art that she loves and coaching clients to have the lives of their dreams. This frightening leap turned out to be one of the most important and best decisions of her life.
Business came slowly as she further built her name in the community through referrals, networking and giving presentations. Then Lorrie heard about life coaching and knew that she wanted to expand the scope of her coaching business. Graduating from the “Life Coaching from Falling Awake Training School” and then becoming certified as a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) through the International Coach Federation (ICF), Lorrie is at last doing the work she was meant to do. Educating the public about what life coaching is and how it can benefit them has been challenging. Yet she’s excited to be a thinking partner and to guide clients to become the best they can be. Her growing business, based primarily on referrals, has served hundreds of clients and is a testament to the great work she’s done since founding her business. Through her coaching she lives her life purpose: To empower people to be true to themselves!
